Mixed Media :: Acrylic, resin, found object, on birch panel

On this piece I started with the center, pearlized “egg”. After sitting with it for a very long time (months), I added the black acrylic splatter lines. In retrospect, to me, it shows the messy nature of love. The heart is composed of two pieces of graffiti from the Krog Street Tunnel. The right side is from a large, gold chip that I broke to this smaller piece. It has faint ‘overspray’ of color on it. I opted not to make both sides of the heart gold, instead searching for a chip that would complement the colors on the gold. When I found the left piece, I was amazed how perfectly they went together. The working title of this is: “Love Isn’t Always Black And White”.
